1. Why did you decide to pursue a career in marketing?
I have had an unconventional path to where I am right now. I used to study at the faculty of economics and business but after some time I realized it wasn’t the right thing for me. One of the things I did however find interesting was marketing. I moved on from that area and studied English and Russian as languages were always my passion.
During my student years, I realized I loved expressing myself through writing and got a student job as a content writer. Here I have rediscovered my interest in marketing and started applying myself more in the digital aspect of marketing.
After a while, this landed me a gig in Pontis which turned into a permanent thing.
2. What is your opinion on the rise of AI in marketing and especially the creative industry?
It is not the future as people love to say, but the present and you have to embrace it and adapt or you risk becoming obsolete in a matter of years. We have all witnessed ChatGPT and its poems, jokes and essays trending online.
When AI is trained with tens of thousands of texts it will be able to reproduce an imitation of the material it was given. But if you are writing for a specific client and his needs, there won’t be tens of thousands of texts to train the AI with and you are supposed to be producing original ideas. It is often repetitive and gives the feeling of being “a mile wide and an inch deep”.
With that being said, this is only the beginning and we already feel its impact. One thing is certain – AI will definitely change the industry in more ways than we can imagine.
3. What do you like the most about Pontis?
The relaxed yet productive atmosphere. The fact that you can always get help if you ask. The office. The feeling of being included in building a great story. The fact that I can start 5 sentences in a row with the word the.
4. What is your favourite free time activity?
I have been attending trivia nights and pub quizzes for around 10 years now and I think it’s a passion I’ll never get enough of. When you start playing you think you are knowledgeable, but then you realize you don’t have a clue about anything and that there is so much more to learn. Once you start drinking out of that tap you are forever thirsty.
Other than that, I like hanging out with my girlfriend, friends and family, listening to old music and giving unsolicited advice to people.
