1. Can you describe your career path?

I started working in IT as a student and I have been in IT for over 12 years now… (Wow, it’s been a while…) I started my journey as an IT support technician locally and then upgraded to supporting all branches in the Croatian area. After that, I became an IT system administrator for the core company IT team which was responsible for connecting new companies to the core IT Systems.

Those were all international projects, and I had traveled a lot then. I visited 19 countries and more than 60 locations/branches around the EU and non-EU countries. My duty was to reconfigure and set up IT in new companies to meet core policies. One of the duties that was a part of this project, was the implementation of Office365 and cloud services which was a big thing at the time!

I was also working as an instructor for all new users to introduce them to new technologies and to make them feel comfortable using them. At that point, the Croatian company that I started working for in the first place was one of many companies in the group that I have done support for.

After a couple of years on that job I shortly moved to a more of an IT consulting role and after that I got the chance to work as Head of IT. That role gave me a much better perspective of business processes in the whole IT cycle. I worked there for a couple of years and then I decided I wanted to work more on new technologies and to be more involved in technical tasks rather than in management and organization.

Today I work as a Lead System Engineer and I love it, as it gives me the opportunity to learn and to work with the latest technologies. 😊

2. What do you like the most about Pontis?

The people, my colleagues. When you are surrounded by friendly people all the time, working is more fun and you are more motivated to give your very best, because all people in Pontis are doing the same thing! A great working atmosphere is really important for me, and that is what I like the most about Pontis!

3. In your opinion, what are the core benefits of DevOps?

The core benefits of the DevOps approach are being able to deliver your application faster and at the same time staying very organized and very fault tolerant.

DevOps approach gives the company the ability to create a lot of automation in processes and this leads to much faster development and response. Faster development and response create happy customers and happy customers make your company grow faster! Simple as that.

4. What is your favourite free time activity?

I like to spend time with my family preferably in the outdoors, walking, playing, relaxing, and „recharging my batteries.”

As I work in IT, I spend most of my working hours looking at several screens and in my free time, I like to move away from all that.

Don’t get me wrong, I like working in IT and I love my position but I also like this other side of the coin and that is my family time and relaxation.

It is very important to have a job with the ability to “shut down“ after work and to “turn on“ your free time mode and this is the case with Pontis.
